Mérida, Yucatán, May 6, 2022.- The Mérida City Council, through the Direction of Economic Development and Tourism, complies with reinforcing the gastronomic traditions of the State with the celebration of the “Pueblos del Maíz 2022” festival, which will have as its objective not only the promotion of Yucatecan cuisine but rather support the economic reactivation and tourism of that sector.
With the appointment of Creative City in Gastronomy that the city received under the administration of the Mayor, Renán Barrera Concha, work is being done to promote tourism and attract more visitors interested in knowing the benefits of Yucatecan cuisine, therefore, conditions are generated that allow a greater economic benefit for the city.

Some of the activities that you can find in the Corredor de la Emita and San Sebastián are the presentation of the group “La Siembra” and the “Trovadoras del Mayab”, the projection of the film “Journey into Yucatán” by Symphonic Planet, the official ballet and the Mérida City Hall orchestra, “Tiempos de Milpa” photographic exhibition, a bicycle tour through the neighborhoods by Camino del Mayab and an agenda of conferences related to corn by the Colectivo Guardianes de las Semillas, Traspatio Maya and Kool Kab.
