It’s that time of year in Merida again where we are eating out, gathering with friends and going shopping for the holidays! We always want to encourage people to shop local and support the local businesses and here we have three spots that we love go shop.
Matilda Merida
If you drive down Paseo de Montejo, you can’t miss Matilda with it’s big neon pink sign and windows that let you peek in and see all the cool artwork inside. Matilda is a concept store, gallery and vintage furniture shop. It brings togther an art gallery, contemporary design showroom, vintage furniture collection and high quality origninal Mexican arts and crafts. At Maltilda you experience culture, wellness and learn about the vibrant visual art scene in Mexico.
At Matilda you can find artwork, antiques, jewelry, things for the home, shoes, artisan pieces, perfumes, candles and more. It is an ideal place for getting a gift for yourself or someone you know.
A MID City favorite place to shop. Plus it’s right next to La Bottega and you can shop and then pop over to Bottega for a meal and glass of wine.

La Bottega
La Bottega is one of the newest additions to my favorite avenue in Merida: Paseo de Montejo. It is located in what I always thought is the ideal spot for a restaurant or cafe: on the corner a block down from the Monumento a la Patria. La Bottega is a wine store and gourmet deli and the perfect place for a lunch or evening dinner, or to have a glass of wine and chill with friends while watching passersby on Paseo de Montejo.
Inside the deli store is a large selection of wines from around the world, microbrews, teas, and gourmet items. This is a great spot to stock up on wines for the holidays! Their deli has fine cheese and deli meats as well as some awesome desserts. In the store you can find specialty items such as craft beers, a large selection of wines, and other imported foodie products.

Shanti Wellness Center
A new wellness center on Calle 60 Norte x 29, Colonia Buenavista, Shanti is a holistic center with a full schedule of yoga classes, as well as a place to treat yourself to a mani, pedi, facial or massage. They also have a store with many products for yoga, meditation and wellness. What better gift that to give than a gift certificate to a massage or spa treatment or a new yoga mat to start the new year off with peace, reflection and good vibes!
