Recycling in Merida: Learn where the “Puntos Verdes” are in the City

March 13, 2024

In an inspiring stride towards sustainability, the city of Merida proudly presents the “Punto Verde” program, a cornerstone of the Zero Waste Strategy set forth by the Merida City Council. This initiative is a rallying call for the cultivation of a culture that champions waste separation, recycling, and responsible waste disposal, all while championing the ideals of the circular economy within the vibrant tapestry of Merida’s waste management.

Strewn across Merida’s expanse, you’ll find 11 strategically positioned MEGA VERDES collection points designed to gather an array of predominant waste types. Additionally, a singular VERDE MAX point is nestled in the confines of Dzununcán, residing within the tranquil embrace of the Cuxtal Ecological Reserve. These points, in tandem with more than 90 scattered “puntos verdes,” each attuned to specific waste categories, beckon to all residents and visitors alike.
