Breaking Glass Ceilings in Mérida: The Woman Behind ARMORÁN PLAZA

In a city known for its rich cultural heritage and rapidly evolving urban landscape, a new chapter in real estate development is being written—this time, with a woman at the helm. MID CityBeat had the honor of attending the inauguration of ARMORÁN PLAZA, which, I have to say, was a seriously fun party—there was a full symphony orchestra playing pop hits, fireworks lighting up the sky, and some pretty amazing canapés that disappeared fast. The project is a visionary mixed-use building in Temozón Norte, and meeting the trailblazing woman behind the project: Ana Cristina Correa Cervera,  one of the few female real estate developers in Yucatán.

A lawyer by profession and notary aspirant, Ana Cristina is the General Director of Grupo Foret, a homegrown company with bold plans for sustainable urban growth.

More than a businesswoman, Ana Cristina is a change-maker. Each of her developments is connected to a social cause through Fundación Foret, the philanthropic arm of the company. With the inauguration of her latest project, ARMORÁN PLAZA, she’s channeling support to a shelter for women and children who have survived extreme domestic and gender-based violence. The shelter provides security, tools for emotional recovery, and guidance toward a life of autonomy and dignity.

Her vision fuses infrastructure with purpose, compassion, and bold leadership—breaking the glass ceiling while raising up the community.

Grupo Foret: A Yucatecan Real Estate Company with Heart

Founded six years ago, Grupo Foret is much more than a construction and development firm. It’s a Yucatecan company dedicated to sustainable growth, job creation, and community development.

Their guiding philosophy: create value not only through high-quality design and construction, but by investing in the people and places that give Mérida its soul.

In the next five years, Grupo Foret is committed to:

  • Generating more than 350 new jobs

  • Investing over $1.58 billion pesos

  • Dedicating more than 40% of development surfaces to green spaces

This long-term vision emphasizes legal certainty, social responsibility, and sustainable urban planning—a holistic approach that’s rare, and refreshingly impactful.

ARMORÁN PLAZA: A Landmark Development in Temozón Norte

The latest result of Ana Cristina’s leadership is ARMORÁN PLAZA, a newly inaugurated mixed-use development located in one of Mérida’s fastest-growing and best-connected districts: Temozón Norte.

📍 Located at Calle 40, next to Universidad Marista and Periférico

ARMORÁN PLAZA was conceived as a space where business, lifestyle, and community converge. It includes:

  • 🏢 72 premium corporate offices

  • 🏡 24 high-end residential apartments

  • 🛍️ 5 commercial spaces dedicated to essential services and culinary experiences

Set in a prime location just minutes from hospitals, schools, shopping centers, and major roadways, ARMORÁN PLAZA reflects the evolution of modern Mérida: dynamic, strategic, and deeply connected to the needs of the people who live and work here.
