El Pueblo Merida is like stumbling upon a hidden gem in the centro of Mérida, where every corner whispers luxury and friendliness. Tucked just a stone’s throw away from Paseo de Montejo, Calle 47’s foodie heaven, and the new beautiful city park Parque la Plancha, there is simply no better location in town. This gay-friendly hotel boutique feels more like spending your vacation at a friend’s lavish home than a run-of-the-mill hotel. It is ideal for the discerning traveler who wants it all: the excitement of Mérida’s vibrant historic centro; and the peace and calm of a tropical oasis in which to escape, rejuvenate, and recharge for the next adventure.
El Pueblo Merida Layout
With only seven suites spread out in a sprawling layout, you get the best of both worlds – privacy and that cozy community vibe. Step inside and you’re greeted by an ambiance that says “welcome home.” The original buildings dated back to the early 1900’s and there is a feel of historic charm meets modern comfort.
The entrance leads to a lovely reading nook on one side and a handy kitchenette on the other, perfect for brewing up a cup of coffee or having a game night. Wander further and you’ll come to a lush atrium where they sometimes screen movies, and there’s even an elevator for those who may need it in order to get to the second floor. Once you’ve settled into your spacious suite – complete with a plush king-sized bed and a spacious bathroom you are ready to sit back and enjoy your day.
The Natural Pool & Lounge Areas
There are plenty of spots to hang out from breezy verandas to a cozy library and a pool deck that has a pool that utilizes a natural filtration system housed in a separate 40-meter pond. The pond is brimming with vibrant aquatic plants, Yucatecan sardines (a fish native to local cenotes), and beneficial organisms that work tirelessly to keep the water pristine. And when morning rolls around, you will be served a vegetarian (with vegan option) breakfast by the house Chefs Alfonso and Antonio. You can eat with the other guests at a large 12 seat dining room table and start your day right before heading out to explore the Yucatan.
At El Pueblo Merida all communities are welcomed and embraced. It’s important for people to feel accepted and as if they are completely at home. As one guest put it, “El Pueblo is the only place I want to stay in when I visit Mérida.” And honestly, who can blame them?
