If you’re dreaming of a relaxing vacation on the Yucatán coast, Casa K’u in San Bruno is the kind of place you’ll want to stay a day or two longer. Just about 40 minutes from Mérida, this little slice of paradise feels like a hidden tropical retreat where time slows down, the warm sea breeze clears your mind, and everything feels beautifully simple.
From the moment you walk in, there’s this calming sense of privacy. You’re surrounded by lush gardens and the soft sounds of the waves—perfect if you’re craving a boutique hotel experience that feels close to nature and far from your everyday routine.
Relaxed Boutique Rooms with Thoughtful Details
Each villa is designed like your own private haven. The rooms look like cozy nests—circular cabins covered in mangroves with spacious bathrooms and, in some cases, a jacuzzi bathtub under a thatched roof.
We stayed in a Deluxe Tub Room, complete with a whirlpool tub overlooking the gardens. Seriously, soaking there with some lavender bath salts after a day on the sand was the definition of bliss.
Inside, you’ll find a dreamy king-size bed with buttery-soft linens, organic bath products, cold A/C, and thoughtful touches like a Nespresso-style coffee station and a welcome pitcher of purified water. It’s the kind of comfort that makes you feel instantly at home.
A Beachfront Sanctuary Close to Mérida
San Bruno Beach is one of my favorite stretches of coastline in Yucatán—quiet, golden, and never too crowded. Even in summer when families come out to kite surf and enjoy their beach houses, it still feels relaxed and authentic.
I love spending lazy afternoons on the beachfront loungers, which are more like chic daybeds where you can nap, read, or sip something cold while the waves roll in. Just steps away, there’s a gorgeous pool surrounded by palms and native plants. Whether you’re in the mood for a swim in the ocean or a lazy float, you’ll find your happy place here.
Fresh Flavors at Nido Restaurant
Casa K’u offers fresh, regional cuisine at their restaurant Nido, led by Chef Esau Cordova. The menu combines local Yucatán seafood and Mediterranean flavors in a way that feels simple, satisfying, and just a little bit special.
Breakfasts here were definitely my favorite—think bagel salmon, fresh fruit, great coffee, and warm pastries to start the day. Later, you can snack on tacos and ceviches right on the beach or go for a chic dinner with seafood and pasta options.
Insider tip: If you love cocktails, do yourself a favor and order a cold Aperol Spritz or a Blue Lagoon—the perfect way to end a day by the sea.

Wellness Experiences & Live Music by the Sea
Every weekend, Casa K’u has something special happening to make your stay feel extra memorable. While we were there, we enjoyed a cozy folk dinner with live acoustic music right by the sand—such a perfect vibe for a warm evening. The next morning, we joined a gentle yoga and meditation session on the beach, stretching out to the sound of the waves.
Throughout the year, you’ll find a rotating schedule of experiences—from sound healing and group meditations to live music and themed dinners. No matter when you visit, there’s always something to look forward to.

Our Take
After long, lazy afternoons by the waves, soaking in the tub, and drifting off in the comfiest bed we’ve ever slept in, we left Casa K’u feeling totally recharged.

Highly recommended.
