Located at 59th Street No. 50, within a beautiful 18th-century colonial home, this business started from a simple yet meaningful idea. After retiring as a primary school teacher, Professor Wilma saw an opportunity to support the artisan mothers she had met through her teaching career. These women, skilled in embroidering traditional Campechan clothing, often worked from home to support their families. Inspired by their craftsmanship, she decided to purchase their handmade blouses and dresses and display them in her window, offering them to passersby.

At that time, Campeche had very few stores selling traditional blouses and dresses, so Professor Wilma’s vision addressed a small but significant demand in the city. She began by hanging the garments in her living room window, which quickly caught the attention of locals. People stopped by, asked about the clothes, and started purchasing them directly from her home. Within a year, word spread that Casa Wilma was the go-to place for beautifully embroidered blouses, making it a household name in Campeche.

Today, Casa Wilma is much more than just a home-based shop. It has grown into a spacious boutique, preserving the charm of its origins while offering a wide selection of artisan-made clothing. The boutique features not only traditional Campechan attire like guayaberas, blouses, and dresses but also accessories, shoes, and souvenirs. Over the past six years, Casa Wilma has shifted its mission, now working closely with artisans to enhance the quality of their products. The store provides high-quality fabrics and materials, ensuring that each piece reflects the best of Campechan craftsmanship. Looking ahead, Casa Wilma plans to expand with a second boutique, offering contemporary designs alongside traditional garments, bringing in textiles and crafts from other regions of Mexico through collaborations with “pop-up” brands.
