Yucatan’s favorite antojito or “snack” is the panucho and this Noche Blanca, Friday November 24th you can go try as many as you can eat at the The Panucho Fair in Merida’s newest Barrio Magico La Ermita!
History of the Panucho: The event pays homage to Don Ucho, a legendary baker from the neighborhood who created the panucho, a Yucatecan snack made with a refried tortilla that is stuffed with refried black beans and topped with chopped cabbage, pulled chicken or turkey, tomato, pickled red onion, avocado, and pickled jalapeño pepper. Yum!
More than 30 stalls await you with delicious panuchos prepared by the masters of the Guild of the Visitation of the Ermita de Santa Isabel. It’s a great chance to immerse yourself in the authentic essence of Yucatecan gastronomy.
