Why the Bienal de Yucatán Is an Important Cultural Event
The inaugural Bienal represents an exciting addition to Yucatán’s growing contemporary art scene.
Rather than concentrating exhibitions in a single museum, the Bienal brings artistic programming into multiple cultural venues throughout Mérida and beyond.
The opening weekend places particular emphasis on language, visual poetry, performance and artistic experimentation, while connecting local cultural spaces with nationally and internationally recognized artists.
For residents and visitors alike, it’s an opportunity to discover new artists, revisit historic cultural institutions and experience Yucatán through a contemporary artistic perspective.
