As we toured the property, what stood out most was how each project supports the others. It never felt staged—it simply felt like everyday life on a working ranch.
Breakfast Worth the Drive
We arrived hungry and quickly realized many locals already know about the restaurant.
Breakfast began with a warm cup of rich beef bone broth, followed by fresh berry juice and seasonal fruit harvested from the ranch.
For the main meal, we shared quesabirria, a hearty beef burrito, sautéed vegetables, and an excellent steak served with two farm-fresh eggs, potatoes, and vegetables. The freshness was immediately noticeable—not because anyone told us, but because the ingredients simply tasted vibrant.
Dessert was equally memorable. The Mexican cream cake was light and delicate, while the cheesecake disappeared much faster than we planned. If you enjoy coffee, don’t skip a cup prepared with fresh ranch milk or one of their refreshing frappés.
One thing we appreciated was how relaxed everything felt. There was no rush to finish breakfast and leave. It’s the kind of place where conversations naturally linger.

Before leaving, we couldn’t resist stopping by the ranch’s small farm store—and left with considerably more than we planned.
Shelves are stocked with fresh cheeses, milk, beef cuts, beef bone broth, rendered beef fat, eggs, honey, juices, desserts, and seasonal fruits and vegetables produced right on the ranch.
If you’re driving to or from Progreso, it’s an ideal place to stock up on quality local products while supporting regional producers.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
One of the day’s biggest surprises was discovering Comunidad Educativa San Antonio, the ranch’s innovative educational project.
The school offers maternal, preschool, and elementary education through an agroecological approach that encourages children to learn by doing. Nature becomes the classroom, with lessons taking place among gardens, animals, and open spaces rather than only within four walls.
It felt refreshing to see education so closely connected to the surrounding environment.
Animal-Assisted Therapy and Family Experiences
Rancho San Antonio also welcomes families, school groups, and visitors interested in learning more about rural life.
Among its initiatives is an Animal-Assisted Therapy Center, where equine-assisted therapy supports children and adults with a variety of emotional, developmental, and physical needs.
The ranch also hosts guided visits and interactive experiences that allow guests to meet the animals, learn about farming, and better understand where their food begins.
